Bitter almonds, like peach, apricot, plum, apple, are found in amygdalin, which can become cyanide in the body. There are two types of almonds in the whole world: sweet almonds and bitter almonds. Bitter almonds should be heat-treated or pasteurized in order to eliminate toxic chemical substances. Almonds are rich in protein, vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, and potassium, which is beneficial for the body; but the use of bitter almonds is by no means advisable.
