Introduction to fig history
Fig is a fruit that is nutritious in dry and fresh.It is used to treat many diseases, and from the perspective of the Quran and ancient companions it has been mentioned as the best fruit as well as olive.
There is a surahs in the Quran called fig. God swear by figs and olives. Because there are trees whose fruits have perfect nutritional properties, are easy to digest and have medicinal properties. The figs and their properties are also mentioned in the Jewish scriptures and ancient Greek and Roman writers.
Figs have 600 species and most of them are wild or ornamental. for example, the tree known as the Katocho (Ficuselastica) tree which is both ornamental and industrial. FicusBengalensis and FicusRigigiosa are ornamental varieties of this plant that are widely used in ornamentation and as an apartment plant.

FicusCarrika is a common fig used as a fruit. But FicusPalata and Ficuspodocarica are mostly planted for inoculation of edible figs.
The main home of the fig tree in the ancient world -Europe and Asia- is in the Mediterranean region and in Iran, the village of Samangan, so it is classified as a semi-arid region.The fig tree, especially its mountainous type, is known as the mountainous fig tree. One of the habitats of mountainous type isQahestan and south of Khorasan and Zebed area.
